Dayton Hamvention
May 16,17,18, 2003

Visit us at space 3350-3351 each year.

This was my 24 consecutive year to attend the Hamvention.  Our group was a little smaller this year as only 5 of the 7 regulars made it.  This year we lead the way with a live streaming webcam that broadcasted video of our convoy as we traveled the 500 miles. People from around the world watched us and chatted with us on instant messenger as we drove. The cam was also set up in our fleamarket space and we had over 10,000 visitiors through the internet.  In fact, we made a fleamarket sale across the internet to Bob W8JUK who was located in North Carolina. Maybe next year we will call it the "KUB" shopping network. We drove up on Wednesday morning and arrive in Dayton about 7:00pm.
We started setting up our shelter on Thursday morning.  Also on Thursday morning, WHIO channel 7 CBS came out looking for us and did an interview about our web broadcast.  We made the news!

The weather was pretty good on Friday but as usual, we got monsoon rains all day on Saturday. Some people braved it and still shopped. Many came by and called their families by cell phone and waved to them on the webcam. The weather was almost perfect on Sunday.

Below you will find a lot of pictures of the Hamvention and even snapshots from the internet that people took of us as we were traveling to Dayton.
